Missing for Five Days: Body Found at Bottom of Ravine in Ratnapura

COLOMBO (News 1st); A 59-year-old man has died after falling into a ravine in the Ellahena area of Ayagama, Ratnapura.

Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the victim had fallen into the precipice approximately five days before his body was discovered.

The body was spotted at the bottom of the ravine yesterday, prompting authorities to launch a recovery operation in the difficult terrain.

Due to the challenging location and accessibility issues, assistance from the Sri Lanka Army was sought to retrieve the body from the ravine, police said.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of the same area and was aged 59.
