SLFP Medirigiriya Organizer Held Under 7-Day Detention Order Over Drug Trafficking

COLOMBO (News 1st): A seven-day detention order has been obtained for the arrested Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party’s Medirigiriya Electoral Organization, Chinthaka Terence Wijeratne, following submissions made before court.

Police stated that Wijeratne was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.

His wife, who was also arrested in connection with the incident, has been remanded in custody.

The couple was arrested in Hingurakgoda while allegedly transporting drugs on a motorcycle.

Police seized 15 grams of heroin and 15 grams of ice, or crystal methamphetamine, from their possession.
