Dengue Cases Cross 86,000: More Than 600 Dengue Cases Reported in First Two Days of August

COLOMBO (News 1st) - According to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) the total number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka this year has exceeded 86,000.

NDCU says 646 dengue cases have been reported during the first two days of August alone.

A total of 137 MOH divisions have been identified as high-risk areas.

Acting Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, said the highest number of dengue cases continues to be reported from the Gampaha and Colombo districts.

He added that dengue prevention and vector control programmes are continuing at the Grama Niladhari division level across the country.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Education Madhura Seneviratne said mosquito control programmes are being carried out in and around school premises ahead of upcoming examinations.
