Tame Elephant Injured In Collision With Tipper Truck

COLOMBO (News 1st): A tame elephant was injured after colliding with a tipper truck in Omaragolle, Melsiripura.

Police stated that the elephant was being transported in another lorry and had been unloaded onto the road temporarily when the incident occurred.

The collision took place when a tipper truck travelling from Dambulla, struck the elephant.

The elephant remained on the road for a considerable period following the accident. Wildlife officials arrived at the scene to assess its condition and provide necessary treatment.

Police added that the driver of the tipper truck has been arrested in connection with the incident.
