Canadian National Nabbed At BIA Over Rs. 200 Million Drug Bust

COLOMBO (News 1st): A 27-year-old Canadian national was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake, for the pocession of Hashish Narcotic, valued at over Rs. 200 million.

Sri Lanka Customs said the suspect was arrested this morning, after he disembarked an aircraft that landed in the Island from Qatar. 

Preliminary investigations revealed that the narcotics had allegedly been purchased in Toronto, Canada, before the suspect travelled to Qatar and then onward to Sri Lanka.

The hashish was concealed inside two pieces of luggage, according to Customs.

The suspect, along with the seized narcotics, is due to be handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigations.
