Colombo Land Registrar Arrested Over Alleged Involvement in Organized Land Fraud

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A Land Registrar at a Land Registry office in Colombo has been arrested by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the preparation of forged documents.

The police stated that the arrest was made following investigations into her alleged involvement in providing internal records specifically, volumes and secondary copies of deeds bound in the office to external parties. 

She is accused of aiding and abetting organized crime, conspiracy, and facilitating the alienation of land from legal owners through the creation of forged documents.

The suspect is a 51-year-old resident of Pannipitiya.
