Licensed Pistol Linked To Ex-Minister’s Son-In-Law Found With Drug Suspect

COLOMBO (News 1st): It has been revealed that a licensed pistol found in the possession of a suspect at a hotel in the Nugagoda area of Wadduwa belongs to the son-in-law of a former minister.

The arrested individual was the manager of the hotel, which is reported to be owned by the former minister's son-in-law.

Police has further taken into custody 85 grams of 'Kush' narcotics and 30 rounds of ammunition for the pistol, which were found in the possession of the 29-year-old suspect.

Following his appearance before the Kalutara Magistrate's Court, the suspect has been remanded until July 14. 

Police stated that an investigation is underway regarding the unauthorized transfer of the licensed pistol. 

Police said investigations are underway to verify the authenticity of the firearm licence, adding that the suspect is also believed to have links to drug trafficking activities.
