Travel Ban on Cab Owner in Fatal Meegoda Crash

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Homagama Magistrate’s Court today (2) imposed an overseas travel ban on the owner of the cab involved in the fatal Meegoda accident that claimed six lives.

The order was issued after Meegoda Police presented facts before the court regarding the ongoing investigation into the tragedy, which occurred at a roadside dansala.

Police further informed court that three investigative teams have now been deployed to track down and arrest two individuals, including the vehicle owner, who fled the scene at the time of the accident.

According to authorities, the incident took place on Sunday night when the cab was driven into a group of people standing in a queue at a dansala in Meegoda, resulting in the deaths of six individuals and leaving seven others injured.
