Presidential Commission to Probe Coal Procurement To Record Statements From Officials Next Tuesday

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Presidential Commission appointed to investigate all coal purchases since 2009 has decided to begin recording statements from government officials involved in the process next Tuesday.

Commission Secretary P.V. Bandulasena stated that, under this process, the Ministry of Energy will obtain statements from officials of institutions such as the Lanka Coal Company (Pvt) Ltd.

Meanwhile, the Commission also said it will begin collecting information regarding coal transactions from the public as well.

Information can be submitted in writing or by post to the office of the Commission on the 5th Floor, Hulfsdorp Court Complex, Sanchi Arachchi waththa, Court Road, Colombo 12.

The Presidential Commission is chaired by Supreme Court Justice Gihan Kulatunga.

The committee memebers include Court of Appeal Justice Aditya Patabendige and High Court Judge Sanjeewa Somaratne.
