77 Percent Of Aswesuma Beneficiaries Included In Empowerment Program

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Samurdhi Development says that around 77 percent of the country’s Aswesuma beneficiaries have been included in the empowerment program.

Director General Dhammika Muthugala stated that the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank have launched relevant pilot projects since 2023.

Under the World Bank programme, 10,975 Aswesuma beneficiary families have been selected for empowerment program

The Department of Samurdhi Development says that around 40 percent of them have been included in the empowerment program so far.

A total of 12 districts have been selected for this program.

The Asian Development Bank is also implementing a pilot project to empower 10,300 families across 13 districts.

So far, 85 percent of this work has been completed.
