COLOMBO (News 1st);The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka next month.
In parallel with this visit, Masood Imad, the Maldivian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, and Ramalingam Chandrasekar, the Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, held an official meeting to discuss new opportunities for cooperation between the fisheries sectors of the two countries.
The discussion, aimed at strengthening Sri Lanka-Maldives fisheries cooperation, took place at the Parliament complex.
During the meeting, they explored the possibility of introducing new products to the market by combining the fresh fish resources available in the Maldives with Sri Lanka's advanced fish canning industry.
Special attention was also given to manufacturing products within Sri Lanka targeting the Maldivian market and developing value-added fish products.
