IGP Priyantha Weerasooriya Orders Immediate Transfer of 22 Senior Police Officers Across Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Police Headquarters has announced the immediate transfer of 22 senior officers, including a Superintendent of Police, seven Assistant Superintendents, and 14 Chief Inspectors. 

Officials stated that these reshuffles were executed under the directives of Inspector General of Police, Priyantha Weerasooriya, following formal recommendations by the National Police Commission.

Transfers have also been effected at the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent levels, with several officers reassigned across key divisions. Superintendent of Police D.R.S. Dharmadasa has been moved from Mannar to Kandy, while K.L.A.T.S. Jayasinghe shifts from Trincomalee to the Police Kennels Division. N.P.N. Suraweera has been transferred from the Tourism Division to Nuwara Eliya, and S.P. Edirisinghe from Kebithigollewa to Polonnaruwa.

Changes have also been made within training and legal sectors, with ASP K.R.A. Priyantha moving from In-Service Training to Mullaitivu, and W.J.B. Fernando transferring from Mullaitivu to the In-Service Training Division. In addition, P.M.C.R. Tennakoon has been reassigned from Elpitiya to Anuradhapura, while M. Abeysinghe moves from the Legal Division to Mannar.

In addition to the senior command, 14 Chief Inspectors serving as Officers-in-Charge (OICs) have also received transfer orders. These include the heads of several key stations across the island, namely Ragama, Matale, Navagamuwa, Ilavali, Kegalle, Godakawela, Madhu, Welimada, Thalangama, Beliatta, Mullaitivu, Embilipitiya, Buttala, and Point Pedro.
