COLOMBO (News 1st) : Sri Lanka Police say that multiple crimes have been uncovered following the arrest of two suspects found in possession of ice (methamphetamine).
According to police, officers attached to the Western Province South Crimes Unit arrested two suspects, aged 28 and 42, who are residents of Pannipitiya and Hettipola.
Investigations are being carried out under a 7-day detention order, police added.
Extended inquiries have revealed that the pair were involved in a series of night-time robberies, including breaking into shops and stealing money and property, in the police divisions of Homagama, Kottawa, Maharagama and Wellampitiya.
Police further said that based on information obtained from the arrested suspects, another suspect connected to these crimes was arrested in Homagama.
The third suspect is a 21-year-old resident of Deldowa.
Police recovered 3 grams and 300 milligrams of ice in his possession.
He was also wanted in connection with a night-time break-in at a shop in the Borella Police Division, police stated.
In addition, officers recovered computers, mobile phones and other electronic equipment, as well as vehicle batteries and a set of tools used to dismantle vehicle parts, all believed to have been stolen.
