Government To Introduce Formal System For Appointing School Principals

COLOMBO(News 1st); Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya says steps will be taken to introduce a formal system for appointing school principals.

She made these remarks during a discussion held at the Ministry of Education with members of the Principals' Service Association.

The Prime Minister noted that creating a supportive and satisfactory working environment for education professionals would help implement the new education reforms in a more structured and effective manner.

She stressed that establishing a proper mechanism to appoint principals to schools based on existing vacancies would support this objective.

Ministry officials also stated that discussions will be held with the Public Service Commission and the Department of Management Services to address issues related to principals’ promotions and salary anomalies.
