G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examinations End Today; Police Warn Against Post-Exam Violence

COLOMBO (News 1st): The G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination for the year 2025 will conclude today. 

Based on an analysis of incidents reported in previous years, Sri Lanka Police has observed a tendency for certain students who appear for this examination to become involved in violent or disorderly incidents following the conclusion of the examination.

In order to prevent such situations, the Sri Lanka Police has made arrangements to implement special security and preventive measures on and after 26 February 2026. 

These measures are intended to ensure the safety of students, the general public, and public property.

Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Police requests parents and guardians to pay close attention to the activities and conduct of their children during this period and to take all necessary steps to discourage and prevent any behaviour that may lead to violence or public disturbance.

The cooperation of parents, educational authorities, and the public is earnestly sought in maintaining peace, discipline, and public order.
