CID Summons Maithri Wickremesinghe In Former President Probe

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s wife, Professor Maithri Wickremesinghe, has been summoned to appear before the Financial Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department today to give a statement.

This is in connection with the investigation into former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private visit to London for his wife’s graduation ceremony during his tenure as President.

The Criminal Investigation Department had earlier informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court regarding the incident.

The matter concerning Ranil Wickremesinghe and former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake was taken up in court on 18 February 2026.
