COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Railways announced that train services along the Puttalam line will return to normalcy starting tomorrow, following extensive repair work.
Officials said that the damage to the railway track, inflicted by cyclone Ditwah, has been fully restored. Train operations along sections of the Puttalam line had already resumed in stages after temporary suspensions due to the disaster.
However, services between Chilaw and Puttalam remain suspended. The delay was caused due to severe damage to the track near the Badulu Oya Bridge, which required careful clearing and reconstruction to ensure safety.
The Department confirmed that, from tomorrow, train services will operate fully between Colombo Fort and Puttalam, marking the complete restoration of the line for travelers.
