Sri Lanka Reports 100 New Cancer Patients Daily - 40 Deaths Each Day

COLOMBO (News 1st); Around 100 cancer patients are reported daily in Sri Lanka, according to the State Minister of Health, Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni.

The State Minister also stated that approximately 40 cancer patients die each day in the country.

Sri Lanka’s main early cancer detection centre was declared open at the National Hospital in Colombo.

It has been established on the first floor of the Outpatient Department’s Communicable Diseases Clinic building at the National Hospital.

A system has also been implemented to immediately refer identified patients to specialist clinics for urgent treatment.

Accordingly, the early cancer detection centre at the National Hospital is open to the public from 8.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. on weekdays, except on government holidays.
