Ministry of Education Launches National School Reorganization Program

COLOMBO (News1st): The Ministry of Education has announced that the reorganization of schools has officially commenced.

Deputy Minister Madhura Seneviratne says that under this program, all facilities in 170 selected schools will be fully developed. He also noted that certain schools will be merged as part of this restructuring process.

According to the Deputy Minister, The final decision regarding the merging of schools will be made by the respective District Coordinating Committees.

The program aims to create a more student-friendly learning environment as part of broader education reforms.

Currently 11,100 schools in the country are being managed by the Central Government and Provincial Councils.

Of these, over 5,000 schools have a student population of fewer than 200.
