Fatal Crashes Claim Teen Lives in Separate Road Accidents

COLOMBO (News 1st): A 16-year-old student has died in a motorcycle accident along the Bowatta-Kuliyapitiya road in In Kadigamuwa.

According to police, the motorcyclist has lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to overturn. 

The deceased was a resident of Dummalasuriya.

Meanwhile, another 16-year-old student died in another accident near the Batupela Junction along the Hakmana-Walsamulla road, when a motorcycle collided with a cab and a car. 

The victim was a resident of Mahagedarawatta in Hakmana.

Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Traffic and Road Safety, W. P. J. Senadheera said that 155 people have died in 147 fatal road accidents, between the period from January 1 to January 25, 2026.
