Katunayake Airport Drug Bust: Rs. 216 Million Seized

COLOMBO (News 1st) -Four suspects were arrested early this morning at the Katunayake International Airport with a stock of narcotics valued at approximately Rs. 216,140,000.

One of the suspects was arrested by the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotic Bureau officers upon his arrival in the country from Muscat, Oman.

The quantity of narcotics he had brought packed inside his luggage was 8 kg and 220 g.

The Police Narcotic Bureau stated that their value is approximately Rs. 82.2 million.

The 37-year-old suspect, a resident of Delgoda, is someone who serves as a private security officer at a nightclub.

The other three suspects were arrested with a stock of Kush and Hashish narcotics valued at Rs. 133,940,000.

They had arrived in the country from Muscat, Oman, early this morning.

The suspects were arrested while attempting to take the relevant stock of narcotics out through the airport "Green Channel."

10 kg 394 g of Kush and 1 kg 912 g of Hashish were discovered here.

The suspects are residents of the Nattandiya and Colombo Grandpass areas.
