COLOMBO (News 1st): Deputy Minister of Fisheries Rathna Gamage says that all construction, removal, and excavation activities along the southern coastal tourist zone will be temporarily halted during the tourist season.
He said that instructions have been issued for all kinds of construction work in coastal areas including Unawatuna, Rumassala, Yaddehimulla, Mihiripenna, Habaraduwa, Kathaluwa, and Ahangama to be completed ahead of the tourism season, in order to avoid disruptions and protect the coastal environment.
He added that relevant authorities have been directed to prepare a centralized annual plan at the beginning of each year, ensuring a coordinated approach to complete all construction, removal, excavation, and city beautification work before the tourist season begins.
