One Dead In Jinthupitiya Shooting, Two Hospitalized

COLOMBO (News 1st): The man who was critically injured after he was shot in Jinthupitiya, has succumbed to his injuries.

Police confirmed that the victim was a 44-year-old resident of Colombo 13. 

Police added that two children, a four-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl, who were also injured in the shooting, are currently receiving treatment at the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital.

According to Police Media Spokesperson ASP F. U. Wootler, the suspects arrived at a land adjacent to the Jinthupitiya roundabout around 10 p.m.last night in a three-wheeler, open fired at the victims and fled the scene.

The motive behind the shooting remains unknown.

Investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Foreshore Police Station and the Colombo North Division Crime Investigation Unit.
