Salary Increase for Public Sector Starting This Month:Cabinet Greenlights 26,000+ New Public Service Appointments

COLOMBO (News1st): The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government announced that the salary increment introduced in the budget for the employees in the public sector will come into effect starting this month.

Accordingly, Minister Prof. Chandana Abeyrathne said that public sector employees will receive an overall salary increment of approximately 35%.

The Minister further noted that the pension increments allocated in the budget will be provided starting from June this year. 

Meanwhile, Cabinet approval was granted to recruit 26,095 new employees into the public service.
