Over 600 Arrested in 24-Hour Island-Wide Crackdown

COLOMBO (News1st): 679 suspects linked to various crimes have been arrested during island-wide crime and drug prevention operations conducted by the police. 

These arrests were made during operations carried out over the past 24 hours.

Under the instructions of the Inspector General of Police, authorities conducted searches on 30,322 individuals during the nationwide operation.

Among them, 14 individuals were identified as being directly linked to criminal activities.

Additionally, 507 individuals were taken into custody for driving under the infleunce.

The operations also led to the arrest of 275 suspects with day warrants and 150 suspects with open warrants.
