President Highlights Strong Fiscal Discipline Enabling High Compensation

COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the high compensation amounts were possible due to the government’s strong financial discipline. 

He made these remarks while attending the Puttalam District Coordination Committee meeting today.

Discussions were held on support for people affected by Cyclone Ditva, including damaged shrimp farms in the district. 

Plans were proposed for compensation and a concessional loan scheme for farmers.

The President instructed officials to complete all crop damage compensation payments before December 25.

The construction of the Kala Oya Lower Bridge was also reviewed, with the President directing the setup of a temporary bridge to support tourism as needed.

He emphasized giving priority to rebuilding the livelihoods of affected communities.
