COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Presidential Committee on Disaster Management convenes for the second consecutive day today to strengthen coordination of relief efforts for people affected by the disaster.
The committee was appointed by the President to ensure that foreign aid provided for disaster relief is properly coordinated and distributed to affected communities.
The eight-member committee is chaired by Deputy Minister of Defence Retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara.
Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekara stated that he hopes to inform the public and foreign embassies about the ongoing aid program.
