COLOMBO (News 1st); The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) has announced that its flagship annual event, the ABU General Assembly 2026, will be hosted by The Maharaja Media Network, owned and operated by The Capital Maharaja Group.

The prestigious gathering will take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka, bringing together senior executives, broadcasters, media experts, and international partners from across the Asia-Pacific and beyond.

The ABU General Assembly serves as a strategic platform for its 220+ members in over 60 countries, focusing on global media trends, technological innovation, sustainability, capacity-building, and the evolving role of public-interest media.

The 2026 edition marks a milestone as the event returns to Sri Lanka, a nation celebrated for its cultural heritage and active contribution to ABU initiatives.

The Maharaja Media Network, comprising MBC and MTV, long-standing and influential ABU members, will act as official hosts.

Renowned for leadership in journalism, innovation, and community service, the Group has played a pivotal role in strengthening regional cooperation and promoting high-quality media in South Asia.

Cinnamon Life – City of Dreams Sri Lanka will serve as the Official Hospitality Partner, hosting key conference sessions and delegate engagements.

Its integrated event spaces and modern facilities will provide a cohesive setting for meetings, discussions, and networking, positioning Colombo as a central hub for one of the region’s most significant MICE events.
