COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have issued strict guidelines to organizers of today’s Nugegoda rally, instructing that sound amplification equipment be used only within the rally premises.
The directive comes amid concerns that loud noise could disrupt students sitting for the GCE Advanced Level examinations at nearby centers.
According to a statement from the Police Media Division, organizers applied for loudspeaker permits through the Mirihana Police Station for the rally scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
However, the Police emphasized that conditions attached to the permit require minimizing disturbance to students arriving for exams and returning home afterward.
The statement further noted that several exam centers are located adjacent to the rally venue, making it essential to limit noise.
The Police have emphasized that rally organizers must ensure students sitting for the GCE Advanced Level examinations can arrive and return home without disruption.
According to the official statement, conditions attached to the loudspeaker permit require organizers to limit sound amplification strictly within the rally premises and avoid any interference with exam centers located nearby.
