Kandy Shop Attack: 7 Injured, Suspect To Remain In Custody

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Seven people were injured in a stabbing incident at a shop in Galekele, Ududumbara, Kandy.

Police said that members of a single family and two neighbors had been injured.

They further stated that the attack was carried out by the shop owner's son, who had arrived at the shop under the influence of alcohol.

Two women were among the victims, and all have been admitted to Kandy Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The suspect was arrested and produced before the Teldeniya Court today, and has been remanded until the 26th.

The motive behind the stabbing is currently unknown.
