Adhere to Heatwave Guidelines: Ministry of Education Issues Directives to Principals

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Education has issued a stern directive to school principals, ordering the immediate and strict implementation of safety guidelines previously issued to mitigate the risks of the prevailing extreme heat.

Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Madura Seneviratne said that the ministry has received several complaints regarding certain principals failing to follow these safety protocols. 

He emphasized that these instructions were specifically designed to ensure the health and well-being of students during school hours.

The Deputy Minister further noted that any negligence regarding these safety measures could put students at risk, urging school heads to prioritize the protection of the health condition of students amid the soaring temperatures.
