COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella’s son, Ramitha Rambukwella, was formally indicted today before the Colombo High Court on charges of unlawfully amassing wealth.
The case was taken up before High Court Judge Mohamed Mihail, where prosecutors alleged that between August 13, 2020, and June 24, 2024, while serving in the Ministry of Mass Media and Health, Rambukwella engaged in activities that resulted in the accumulation of assets disproportionate to his known income.
Following the reading of the indictment, the accused was granted bail under strict conditions:
Cash bail of Rs. 50,000
Two surety bonds of Rs. 1 million each
The court scheduled the next hearing for December 16, where further proceedings will continue.
