COLOMBO (News 1st); A woman who violated traffic regulations and ignored police signals has been remanded until the 3rd of November, following her appearance before the Gampaha Magistrate this evening.

Video footage circulating on social media shows the woman verbally abusing police officers and behaving aggressively, claiming to be the sister of a Senior DIG.

However, police have clarified that this claim is entirely false, confirming that there is no such relationship.

According to police, the incident occurred on the Kotugoda–Udugampola road when the suspect ignored signals to stop.

Her vehicle was later towed and inspected at Polwatta Junction in Udugampola.

The woman reportedly attempted to drive the vehicle forward from that location before being arrested.

The police stated that the woman’s claim of being the sister of a Senior DIG is completely false, emphasizing that no such relationship exists.

Accordingly, the police said that legal action will be taken against her on charges of dangerous driving, reckless driving, disregarding police signals, use of criminal force, and impersonation.
