Over 1,000 Suspects Arrested In Nationwide Drug Raids

COLOMBO (News 1st);A total of 1,076 suspects were arrested in raids carried out across the country yesterday as part of the nationwide operation to crack down on illegal drugs.

Police stated that investigations into illegal assets have also been initiated against two of the suspects arrested during the raids.

They added that 19 suspects have been placed under detention orders, while 20 identified drug addicts have been referred for rehabilitation.

During yesterday’s operations alone, a significant quantity of narcotics was seized, including 493 grams of cannabis, 561 grams of ICE, and 6 grams of cocaine.
