Neighbor Opens Fire in Kalawana Land Dispute, Two Injured

COLOMBO (News 1st); A land dispute in Gonala Kanda, Kalawana escalated into violence today (31) when a neighbor allegedly opened fire on two individuals traveling on a motorcycle. 

Police confirmed that the victims sustained injuries and were rushed to the Ratnapura Hospital for treatment.

Investigations reveal that the suspect, identified as the owner of an adjoining tea estate, fled the scene immediately after the shooting. 

Police have deployed four teams to track him down.

Authorities disclosed that the suspect is already facing a pending murder trial at the Ratnapura High Court, accused of killing his own son.

The verdict in that case was scheduled for November 11, adding a dramatic twist to today’s incident.
