COLOMBO (News 1st); Major General Nalinda Niyangoda officially assumed duties as the new Chief of National Intelligence today (28 October) at the Ministry of Defence in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte.
He received his letter of appointment yesterday (27 October) from Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), marking the formal commencement of his new role.
A senior officer of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Major General Niyangoda brings over 35 years of distinguished service in the Sri Lanka Army.
Throughout his military career, he has held numerous key and demanding appointments, consistently demonstrating exceptional leadership, strategic acumen, and unwavering commitment to national security.
