Suspect in Reckless Ratmalana Chase Remanded

COLOMBO (News 1st); A van driver who ignored police orders and sped through Ratmalana, causing multiple collisions, has been remanded until November 3 following his appearance before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court.

Police revealed that the suspect was intoxicated at the time of arrest. 

A subsequent search of the van uncovered four cannabis-mixed items and a small sharp weapon. 

The vehicle has been sent for government forensic testing.

The reckless chase resulted in damage to four vehicles, including three motorcycles and one car, according to police reports.

Authorities further disclosed that the suspect is wanted in connection with several other criminal offenses.
