Government Websites Down After State Cloud Overload

COLOMBO (News 1st); Several government websites have gone offline due to a technical failure, the Ministry of Digital Economy confirmed today.

According to the ministry, the disruption occurred after the state cloud system exceeded its capacity. 

Among the affected institutions are the Sri Lanka Police, Registrar General’s Department, Department of Motor Traffic, and the Department of Meteorology, among others.

Authorities said efforts are underway to restore the system to normalcy. Until then, online services through the affected websites remain unavailable.

The Registrar General’s Department announced that birth and death certificates can still be obtained through Divisional Secretariat offices during the outage.
