No Country Has Fully Achieved Gender Equality : Sri Lanka Prime Minister At Beijing Summit

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya underscored the nation’s unwavering commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment during the Opening Ceremony of the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women 2025, held at the China National Convention Center (CNCC) in Beijing on October 13.

Addressing world leaders, Prime Minister Amarasuriya stated: “We reaffirm our shared commitment to women’s rights and equality. No country has yet fully achieved gender equality, and the road ahead demands our continued commitment.”

The Prime Minister attended the summit at the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

Upon her arrival at CNCC, she was warmly welcomed by President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan.

The high-level meeting, which brings together global leaders and policymakers, focuses on accelerating progress toward gender equality, promoting inclusive development, and ensuring that women play a central role in shaping the future.
