COLOMBO (News 1st); A driver assistant employed at the Colombo Municipal Council’s Borella office has been arrested by the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Strike Force for allegedly engaging in the trafficking and sale of crystal methamphetamine (ice).
The suspect, a 47-year-old resident of Borella’s Seevali Mawatha, was taken into custody following intelligence-led operations.
Police revealed that the individual had been operating from behind the Campbell Park office, where he reportedly packaged and distributed ice.
Investigations have uncovered that the suspect received narcotics from organized criminal networks, indicating deeper links to larger drug syndicates.
Officers seized 20,790 milligrams of ice during the arrest.
Police confirmed that the suspect is currently being interrogated under a detention order, as further inquiries continue into the extent of his involvement.
