Former Top Naval Officers Back in Remand

COLOMBO (News 1st); Two former high-ranking officers of the Sri Lanka Navy have been ordered back into remand custody until October 8, in connection with an ongoing investigation into a 2010 abduction and murder case.

Retired Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, a former Commander of the Navy, and retired Rear Admiral Sarath Mohottige, who previously served as Director of Naval Intelligence, were presented before the Polgahawela Magistrate Udumbara Dissanayake via Zoom earlier today.

The case relates to the alleged abduction and killing of an individual in the Pothuhera area in 2010. 

Admiral Ulugetenne was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as part of the probe into the incident. Rear Admiral Mohottige was also taken into custody in connection with the same case.
