COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police suspect that two bodies found in a house in Seenimodara, Tangalle, may have been killed elsewhere and transported to the location.
Post-mortem examinations on the deceased are scheduled to be conducted today (23) at Tangalle Hospital, with the Government Analyst having already inspected the scene.
The victims have been identified as residents of Nonagama and Tangalle.
The investigation began after two bodies were discovered yesterday (22) morning in a Seenimodara residence, while a third individual died after being admitted to hospital.
Police say the bodies were found following a tip-off from a relative of the hospitalized victim.
During the search of the house, officers also recovered 210 kilograms of suspected crystal methamphetamine (‘ice’).
Further inquiries led police to a lorry parked about six kilometers away, where they found an additional 200 kilograms of heroin and ice, along with five modern revolvers and a T-56 assault rifle.
Police have since launched a series of raids across Tangalle, uncovering more narcotics and another lorry suspected to contain drugs, the contents of which are still being counted.
The Tangalle Divisional Crimes Investigation Unit and the Tangalle Headquarters Police Inspector are leading the ongoing investigations, which now span multiple crime scenes and involve suspected murder, large-scale drug trafficking, and illegal weapons possession.
