COLOMBO(News 1st); The Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat has announced that special training programs are being introduced for three-wheeler drivers who transport tourists across the country.

Additional Secretary to the President, S.P.C. Sugeeshwara, stated that tourists visiting the country often lack proper facilities and that weaknesses can also be seen among some service providers. Citing transport as an example, he noted that there are times when tourists face difficulties, including incidents where they have been unfairly overcharged. He pointed out that such practices hinder the growth of the tourism industry and damage the country’s international image.

He further said that, as a solution, training programs have been planned for those engaged in the tourism sector. As the first phase, 10,000 three-wheeler drivers across the island who serve tourists have been selected to undergo training and will be awarded official certification.
