COLOMBO(News 1st); A discussion between representatives of the Electricity Board trade unions and officials from the Ministry of Energy is scheduled to take place today.

The meeting is held at the Ministry of Energy, with several senior officials from the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), including Ministry Secretary Professor Udayanga Hemapala, expected to attend.

Meanwhile, the work-to-rule trade union action launched by CEB trade unions continues for the 16th consecutive day.

The trade union action, led by unions affiliated with opposition political parties, including the Engineers’ Union was initiated in response to unmet demands regarding benefits during the restructuring process.

Prabath Priyantha, General Secretary of the CEB Free Trade Union, warned that if the government fails to address their demands by tomorrow, union members will withdraw from the restructuring committees.
