Airport Guard arrested With Gold Worth Over Rs. 215M

COLOMBO(News 1st); An airport security officer has been arrested at the Katunayake Airport along with a stock of gold biscuits.

The arrest was carried out by a team of airport customs officials.

The seized stock of gold biscuits is valued at Rs. 21,545,357.35

Customs officers recovered 51 24-carat gold biscuits from the suspect's possession.

The suspect is a 54-year-old resident of Kadawala, Negombo.

He was apprehended while attempting to leave through a special exit for airport staff, having concealed the gold biscuits using bandages.
