SriLankan Airlines Suspends Flights to Nepal

COLOMBO (News 1st) — SriLankan Airlines has announced the temporary suspension of all flights to Nepal, following the closure of Tribhuvan International Airport due to escalating unrest and safety concerns.

The decision comes as major carriers including Air India, Indigo, and SpiceJet also halted operations, citing serious risks to flight safety. 

Authorities in Nepal reported incidents involving protesters allegedly using firecrackers near aircraft, prompting immediate security measures and grounding of flights.

The situation has caused significant disruption for passengers and airlines alike, with no clear timeline for the resumption of normal flight services.
