COLOMBO (News 1st): The newly established Central Crimes Investigation Bureau has commenced investigations into 15 serious incidents involving financial crimes and violations of legal statutes.
The Central Crimes Investigation Bureau was recently formed under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to accelerate inquiries into complaints received from the public and other law enforcement bodies.
Its mandate includes handling complex and sensitive cases that require swift and specialized attention.
Already, the CID has begun transferring case files and complaints to the new division, marking a significant step in streamlining criminal investigations.
Among the cases under review are several incidents related to the illegal assembly of vehicles.
Authorities have confirmed that all investigations will be conducted with urgency, and findings will be submitted to the judiciary upon completion.
