Vijitha Herath To Address United Nations Human Rights Council

COLOMBO (News 1st): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath departed for Geneva, Switzerland this morning (7th) to attend the 60th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council.

The Foreign Minister is scheduled to address the Council tomorrow and will also meet with United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.

Minsiter Herath is expected to hold discussions with Permanent Representatives of several countries to the United Nations.

Director General of the United Nations and Human Rights Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dayani Mendis, will be accompanying the Minister on the visit.

The delegation will remain in Geneva until the 11th of September.
