COLOMBO(News 1st); A meeting was held to review the progress of the “Prajashakthi” national program and the government’s priority development programs at the district level.

This was during a discussion chaired by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.

The need to advance “Prajashakthi” by integrating the entire state machinery with the national program to build a prosperous country, rather than merely turning it into another poverty-eradication initiative, was emphasized.

The meeting reviewed the progress of government development programs, including the new instructions related to the implementation of the “Clean Sri Lanka” program, the decentralized budget program, district development programs, Rural Road Development Program, Estate Community Infrastructure Development Program, Disaster Shelter Programs in Estate Areas, increasing facilities in identified schools, sports schools, the establishment of district-level committees for human-elephant conflict management, and programs targeting people with special needs and disabilities.

The progress of the programs implemented by the government to improve the health, education, and living standards of the people in the country, as well as the targeted program to reduce poverty in the country by the year 2030, were also discussed.
