COLOMBO (News 1st); Another suspect has been arrested in connection with the chilling assassination plot targeting Nadun Chinthaka, also known as Harak Kata, who is currently in remand custody. The suspect had allegedly disguised himself as a journalist to carry out the attack.
The latest arrest involves the owner of a welding workshop in Ududumbara, who is accused of modifying a camera to conceal a revolver. According to police sources, the suspect was paid Rs. 100,000 by an individual known as "Kehlebaddara Pathme" to assist in the operation.
Investigations reveal that the camera used in the plot was purchased in Kurunegala and handed over to the welding shop owner by another accomplice named "Pas Deva," believed to be a close associate of Pathme.
A suspect was apprehended on Tuesday (2) in Maharagama while in possession of a revolver. He had allegedly posed as a media professional to get close to the target. Police identified him as an employee of the Lowland Development Board and stated that he had long-standing ties to the drug network operated by a figure known as "Backhoe Saman."
